Body, Breath & Patanjali
Shed light on the connection between the physical practice and the deep philosophy presented in the Yoga Sutras. Learn how the physical practice of asana embodies Patanjali’s sacred principles and teaches every yoga student how to integrate the practice with our daily lives. Begin with a classic pranayama technique as the catalyst to spark a direct experience of how yoga works. Join this class for a rare opportunity to uncover the inner teachings of who we are and how we function as individuals in yoga, on and off the mat. All levels welcome.

Jumping, Walking, Rolling, and Floating – Transitions in Practice
In Ashtanga’s Vinyasa style practice, we spend almost as much time transitioning between postures as we do holding these individually. In this workshop, we will explore the many types of transitions we experience in practice. Starting with floating in Surya Namaskara, then to the illusive (and challenging) seated jump throughs and jump backs, and finally into the more complex entrances to arm balances and inversions. We will understand how and where to use strength and stability while creating lightness and ease in the body and mind. Come with a sense of adventure! All Levels Welcome.
Sunday 15 Sep 10 am -12 pm
Introduction to the Intermediate Series of Ashtanga Yoga
Intermediate Series, otherwise known as nādī śhodana, meaning nervous system cleansing, builds upon the culmination of energy and purification within the practitioner built from the foundation of Primary Series. With deeper backbends and forward bends as well as arm balances, the Intermediate series integrates the use of opposing forces to garner greater unity and strength, both mental and physical, opening the internal light of awareness within each individual. Whether new to the practice of Intermediate Series, or an experienced practitioner, this workshop will invoke new insights and inspire your already existing practice.
Sunday 15 Sep 1 pm – 3 pm
Ashtanga Yoga – The balance of strength and flexibility
On this final session Tim will lead a technique class looking specifically at the strength and flexibility details in both the Primary and Intermediate series. Please bring with you any questions you might have about certain postures within these sequences.
