Back Garden Padmasana
20th August 2012
Matt performing Back Garden Padmasana. The word Padmasana comes from the sanskrit term ‘padma’ which means lotus and ‘asana’ which is traditionally translated as ‘seat’ – so ‘seat of the lotus’ . This advanced posture is used in both Yoga and Meditation,it requires good open hips and flexible knees. A beginner would take their time to move into the ‘full lotus’ i.e. with the right foot on the left thigh and left foot on the right thigh- it is best advised to learn the posture from a qualified teacher who can instruct the student with the correct method.
