Fawcett Mill is a beautifully renovated 16th century mill set in five acres of secluded countryside.  It is situated in the Eden Valley, midway between the Lake District and the Yorkshire Dales, making it a great base for exploring this beautiful area.  There is a mixture of formal gardens, a large lawn, woodland & waterfall.  The house retains many of the original features.  It is comfortably furnished & maintained to the highest standards with all modern conveniences.  You will find plenty of places to chill out including a four seated sauna, ideal for a post yoga steam or after a long walk.

The mill is in Gaisgill, Tebay close to Penrith conveniently located 2 miles from the M6.

The weekend includes an invigorating walk up Raisbeck Hill during which we pass a stone circle and an Andy Goldsworthy sculpture. The chocolate factory in Orton is another popular excursion

Your stay

The generous accommodation is spread over three floors & consists of double rooms, twins and a triple room, either with en-suites or shared bathrooms.  There are the three sitting rooms with open fires and a large dining room.

Throughout the weekend there will be plenty of homemade food to enjoy.  The vegetarian meals are cooked to an excellent standard using local produce whenever possible.  A selection of teas & juices are available at all times.   Feel free to bring a bottle of wine, put your feet up and relax in peaceful surroundings with good company.

What to expect

Arrive on Friday from 5pm & enjoy tea & cake.  At 7:30pm there will be homemade soup & an introduction to the weekend.

Saturday morning starts at 7:30am with a morning meditation & an energising yoga class.  We eat breakfast/brunch at 10-10:30am & then you are free until 1pm when soup & bread is served.  You can then join the guided walk or stay at the Mill & relax.  At 6pm there is a gentle yoga class or guided relaxation, after which we have dinner together at 7:30pm

Sunday morning starts in the same way with meditation, yoga & breakfast, followed by a 2nd session at 11:30.  This is a chance to ask questions or to look at the non-physical side of the practice.   We have lunch together at 1pm & depart around 3pm.

We have a relaxed & informal approach so the times may vary slightly from day to day.  Most importantly, don’t forget that this is your holiday & all yoga and activities are optional.

What it costs

Full price £195 or we offer an early bird deal for £175 (see below for details).  This includes accommodation for two nights, the yoga sessions and all meals.  Arrive 5pm onwards Friday afternoon, depart after lunch on Sunday.

Description

Fawcett Mill Fields is perhaps one of the best-kept secrets in the Lake District. It is an absolutely astonishing place, the perfect venue for a yoga retreat. The Mill dates back to 1517 and has been patiently restored over many years to retain original features in stone and oak. It is set in 5 acres of woodland that boast a wildlife garden, herbaceous borders and a large lawn. To see for yourself please visit their website.

The bedrooms at the Mill are bright, charming, comfy and clean – there are 3 double en-suites, 2 double rooms, 5 twin rooms and 1 triple (a twin and a double) The rooms will be allocated on a first come first served basis or on a request to share.

There is also a 4 person sauna for that post yoga sweat and a couple of sitting rooms with open log fires for rest and relaxation.
